January Fun

Since I haven't put anything on for a while here is a random blog about what has been going on.

* Mike started a new semester in school. He is taking two classes one on Tuesday and Thursday during the day and one on Tuesday night. So now he is not home until around 10pm on Tuesday.

* My friends Anita and Joey are in a Bunko group and asked me to a substitute last year. Then this year Anita asked me if I would like to be a permanent player. So the second Tuesday of every month I go "hang out" with just girls and play Bunko. If you have never played here is a little of how it goes. You play with 12 people (4 people at three tables), then you roll the 3 dice and try to get Bunko which is all dice the same number that you are on. You start with 1 then 2 and so on until six. For official rules here is website http://www.buncorules.com/. It is a lot of fun.

* Last summer we replaced all the windows in the upstairs and the bathroom window downstairs. In the process the casing that was around the windows had to be taken off. We have been trying to decide how to refinish them and Mike finally finished the one in the basement (not seen a lot so easier to experiment on). We also finished the basement bathroom. It has been an on going project since we moved in. I will try and find the original pictures I have of how it looked, but here is the finished project.

Mike and I sponged the paint on. I think I went over the bathroom at least 3 times to get it to look the way I liked. The trim was the hardest part. We painted the ceiling and then the walls, should have done it the other way. Oh well it is done now.

* We thought the snow from Christmas was going away, Yeah, but alas we were wrong it snowed again. That's right a week ago it snowed again from about Thursday night to sometime Monday night.

* Last Saturday Tallene, Mac, their kids and Krystal came over and we played in the snow. The kids wanted to build a fort. Well that lasted a couple of arm fulls and then it was left to the adults to finish. We then had a snowball fight with Mike and Taylor on the snowmobile, Mac and Eliza on the 4-wheeler and Tallene, Krystal and I in the snow fort.

Mike- Back To School

For those of you don't know, Mike went back to school. He started this year taking one class towards his Masters Degree in Nuclear Engineering. With one class a semester it will take him about 5 years to complete his degree. He is hoping to take two classes a semester so he can finish in about 2 years. Currently he is not sure if there will be classes available to take in the summer or not.

He has been trying to get back in the habit of studying every night for at least an hour. This first class is more of a general overview with lots of subjects that he had to remember from his classes before. The good thing is that he is able to do his class during the day and not after work and it is set up that if he has to miss a class then he can get a DVD of the lecture. The course is scheduled to work with people who are going back to school and working.
