On May 18th Mike's Grandma Pack passed away.
She passed away quick shortly after Mom S and Auntie Marsha arrived and said good-bye.
The funeral was held on May 23rd. It was short and sweet. Just like Grandma would have liked. Instead of having a big dinner we have Grandma's favorite a BBQ. We had Grandma's favorite foods hamburger, deviled eggs, bean salad, and lots of dessert. Mike even played marbles after everyone left.
Krystal made a tribute video that turned out very nice. She had pictures and music that Grandma would have enjoyed.
Here is my memory that I would like to share:
On August 10th 2000 I married Michel Hall and gained a second family. I remember the first time Mike and I were going to Orem to stay with his Grandma and Grandpa Pack. I felt a little awkward calling but, verified that we were coming. By the end of the weekend there was no awkwardness; they both felt like my Grandparents as well.
Grandma always greeted everyone with a hug no matter who you where. She knew that I liked to shop, and did most times we visited, so she always had the ads ready for me to look at. When I would return from shopping she always wanted to know what good deals I got and had to show off any item purchased.
Grandma loved to play games and no matter what when we saw her we had to play marbles, 31 or some other game. She also loved to eat dessert.
I was always amazed at how much Grandma read. She always had a new book and a bag of books for me to take home that she was finished with. Some of the new authors that I love to read today are from books that she gave me.
One of my last conversations with Grandma was one I will never forget, it went something like this:
We were discussing shopping and clothes. She recalled a conversation that she had with her mom. Grandma stated she was in the store with her mom and she asked her “E.J. what is your favorite color?” Grandma said she thought for a moment and then said, “Blue”. Her mom said, “I thought so because whenever I ask your opinion on a dress or shirt you always choose the blue one”.
Because of her I will never see a Kansas sports team or the Utah Jazz and not think of Grandma. And from now on whenever I see or wear the color blue I will think of Grandma.
We will miss her and are sad she will not meet her great-grand-daughter, but know she is helping look out out for us and in a better place.
